Various NYC casting offices will be participating in SCENES AND SONGS FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES - a charity event cooradinated by various members of the NYC Casting Society of America to benefit First Day NY (http://www.firstdayny.org/). This is a special BACK-TO-SCHOOL edition of Meals for Monologues. First Day NY is a fantastic 501c3 organization that works to make sure children living in NYC shelters have everything they need to get a great start on their first day of school. Instead of food items, we are looking to collect the following items: - USB Drives (8GB preferred) - Binders (1- or 2-inch) - Boxes of crayons (any size box is great) - Packages of spiral notebooks (college ruled only, single or mutliple-subject) - Watercolor paint sets - Pads of colored paper In order to participate in this event, please bring any combination of at least two of the listed items (two USB drives OR a package of spiral notebooks and a watercolor paint set, etc.). As always, you are more than welcome to bring MORE than two items for donation. If you’re able to bring a set of all the listed items - that’s amazing! We always appreciate everyone’s generosity. And as always, if you’ve participated in any previous event, you’re more than welcome to come attend again in July - the more the merrier. It’s all for a great cause! So far, we have participants from Telsey + Co, Tara Rubin Casting, Duncan Stewart and Co., Manhattan Theatre Club Casting, Barden/Schnee Casting, Marc Hirschfeld Casting, Innovative Artists Agency, The Mine, Harden-Curtis Associates, Stone Manners Salners, Take 3 Talent Agency, CESD Talent Agency, The Talent House and more. HOW IT WORKS: In exchange for your donations, you’ll receive an appointment time to come perform for various NYC-based casting directors, agents, and managers. You will need to bring the donation items with you on August 3 - we will not be able to accept donations ahead of time. WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare EITHER a short monologue of your choice (no more than 1 minute) or a 32-bar cut of a song of your choice (any style). Please make sure to bring sheet music in the appropriate key for your song - a piano accompanist will be provided. WHAT TO BRING: Please bring four copies of your picture and resume, stapled together. And make sure to bring your school supplies for donation. WANT TO PARTICIPATE? You will receive a specific appointment time, location and instructions. PLEASE NOTE: The event only goes from 11:00am-1:30pm and 2:30pm-5:00pm. We are not able to accommodate appointment times outside of those parameters. If you have any specific time restraints, please make sure to note them in your first email to us. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN OPEN CALL, YOU MUST RECEIVE AN APPOINTMENT TIME IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. Due to the anticipated participation, we will not be able to see anyone without an appointment time.
